My father’s job as a pastoral rehabilitation counselor requires a lot of listening as well as storytelling. Having experienced many of these stories firsthand, an interview felt like the most appropriate format to represent my father in the most authentic light possible. Serving in a similar environment myself every day has led me to explore different forms of storytelling through my work, told from both the people being served and those creating the impact. Like many people drawn to serve, he blesses others through lightening the load of their burdens – even while he may be carrying his own. This documentary covers the landscape of his workplace from the dorms on site to his personal office. I allow the viewer to witness these spaces in an effort to capture the depth of his position, as well as his relationship with myself and the people that he impacts daily.
